Information: PARKERSBURG - Janet Susan Jett, 58, of Parkersburg, passed away on Sept. 12, 2011 at the OSU Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus from heart complications. She was born Oct. 6, 1952 in Weston WV, the daughter of Joe and Opal Lancaster. She was married to Carroll Wayne Jett and celebrated their 39th anniversary on May 13. She graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1970 where she was an all-state band performer and member of the color guard. She completed training at the Camden Clark Hospital School of Nursing and later became a Certified Rehabilitation Nurse at the Charleston Area Medical Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Parkersburg and was part of one of the founding families of Calvary Baptist Church in Ravenswood. She enjoyed animals, reading and sports, particularly basketball where she served as scorekeeper for her husband during 25 years of coaching and traveling all over the country with AAU teams. During that time she became a second mother to hundreds of girls from all around the area. She is survived by her husand, Carroll Wayne, son, Kevin, both of Parkersburg, and her beloved dogs, Cori and Freckles and rescued cat, Little Girl. Also surviving is her father, Joe Lancaster of Seymour, Indiana, sister, Anita Weller (Don) of Vallonia, Indiana, one niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her mother and brother. Memorial services conducted by Rev. Richard McClure will be held Sept. 17 at 3 pm at First Baptist Church on Market Street in Parkersburg, with visitors to meet at the church one hour prior. A reception will follow. Memorial donations can be made in her name to First Baptist Church, 813 Market St., Parkersburg WV 26101.
