  <p>Information: COTTAGEVILLE - Rev. Francis Merlin Jeffries, 62, of Cottageville, WV, died Friday, March 5, 1998, in the Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, WV, after a long illness.  He was born March 16, 1935 at Gay, Jackson County, WV, a son of the late Okey and Goldie Stalnaker Jeffries.  He was a retired employee of CSX, South Charleston, WV and a member of the International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers, Local 513, Shelbiana, KY. He was the Assistant Pastor of the Fairview Church, Given, WV. Surviving relatives include his wife, Dorothy Jeffries of Cottageville, WV, two stepsons, Larry Sommerville of Chatsworth, GA and Gary Sommerville of Ravenswood WV; three stepdaughters, Joyce Buckbee and Chrissy Rottgen, both of Ravenswood WV, and Rosanna Hord of Chatsworth, GA; one brother, William D. Jeffries of Washington DC; three sisters, Velma Avery of Beau, CA, Delphia Lusk of Beckley WV, and Gatha Rhodes of Ripley WV; twelve step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Jeffries; three sisters, Verda Skinner, Freda Pfalzgraf, and Macel Jeffries. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 8, 1998, in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, WV, with the Rev. Darrell Tackett officiating. Burial in the Jeffries Cemetery, Aplin Ridge, WV.</p>
