Information: 07/26/1940 Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Grandview church in Putnam county for Rev. D.M. Ice, 82 year old retired minister who died at his home near Buffalo Sunday. Burial was in the Grandview cemetery. Among the survivors are four children, Mrs. W.F. Boggess, of Ripley; Mrs. Martin Smith, of Liverpool; Mrs. Uriah Barnes, of Charleston, and Charles L. Ice, of Buffalo. One of the daughters, Mrs. Boggess, of Ripley, is ill in a Parkersburg hospital and her condition is such that she was not told of her father's death, members said. 08/23/1940 Rev. David Marshall Ice, a minister of the Christian Church, died Sunday evening, July 21, 1940 at his home on 18 Creek, Buffalo, Putnam county, at the age of 83 years, and three days. The funeral was preached by Rev. Charles Fogle of South Charleston. He was the son of Isaac W. and Mary Martin Ice of Mannington, WV. Since early manhood, he taught school and preached the gospel in West Virginia, Ohio, and Eastern Kentucky. He has been a resident of Putnam county for over 30 ears. His brother, Frank, lives in Mannington. in 1878, he married Amy B. Sturm, the daughter of Perry Greene Sturm and Elizabeth Barnhart Sturm of Mannington, Marion county. To this union were born eight children: Charles Lee, Walter, Jennie Estella, Mary Lillian, Lena Belle, Archibald David, Earl Edward, and Amy Kempsie. Walter and Kempsie died in infancy. Earl died at the age of 44. Charles lived with his father. Estella Smith resides at Sandyville, Lillie Boggess, at Ripley, and Lena B. Barnes in Charleston.
