Information: Funeral services for V.V. Hyre, 65 years old, were held at the Bethany Methodist Church in Parkersburg Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial followed in a cemetery in that city.  Mr. Hyre died at 7 o' clock Wednesday morning at his Parkersburg home after being in ill health for the past two years and seriously ill for the past eight months.  Mr. Hyre was born at Frozen Camp May 13, 1875.  He was the son of the late John A. and Cora Board Hyre.  in 1918 Mr. Hyre went to Parkersburg as a salesman for the Star Grocery Company and later the Brown and Kendall Company.  At the time of his illness, he was with the Merchant's Coffee Company of Baltimore.  Prior to his coming to Parkersburg, Mr. Hyre opened a general store at Reedy and after going to Parkersburg opened a store on 20th Street.  He was a devout member of the Bethany Methodist Church, serving as a teacher in the Sunday school and also on the board of stewarts until his illness.  Mr. Hyre was also a member of the Masonic lodge, IOOF lodge and the United Commercial Travelers.  He leaves his wife, Mrs. Carrie Hyre; two daughters, Mrs. G.C. Davis of Parkersburg, and Virginia Hyre, at home; a grandson, Richard Virgil Davis, also of Parkersburg; five brothers, Holly H. Hyre, of Athens, Ohio, R.R. Hyre, of Ripley, C.C. Hyre of Clarksburg, F.F. Hyre, of Dunbar, and W.W. Hyre, of Cincinnati, Ohio, ( a sister, Esther, born about 1878, not in obituary)
