Information: Claude W. Hunter, a Maryland highway engineer, died at Holy Cross Hospital following a heart attack at his home at 1304 Caddinton Ave., Silver Spring, Md. He was born in Ripley, the son of the late George Hunter and Rufinia King Hunter. He attended West Virginia University, American University and the University of Kentucky. At the time of his death he was an engineer with the Maryland State Roads Commission. Previously he had been employed by the West Virginia highway department. Before becoming an engineer he taught mathematics in West Virginia and Kentucky. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps, preparing topographic maps of airfields in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He also prepared plans and costs for additions to military buildings. Mr. Hunter was an active member of the Marvin Memorial Methodist Church at Four Corners. He leaves his wife, Mildred H., and a daughter, Sue Ellen, both of the home address, and a sister, Mae, of Athens, WV. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery.
