Information: Lawrence Alvin Hunt, 78, of Ripley, departed this life September 2, 2007, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, following an extended illness. He was born August 22, 1929, in Cottageville, a son of the late Lawrence Otho and Clara Alberta Baier Hunt. He graduated from Ripley High School and from West Virginia University. He was a Navy veteran and practiced law in Jackson County from 1953-1965. In addition, he was the prosecuting attorney for Jackson County from 1961-1964. He joined the law offices of Preiser- Hunt and Wilson in Charleston in 1965, currently Hunt-Lees attorneys at law. He was the former president of the West Virginia Bar Association and the former president and current vice-president of the Jackson County Commission on Aging. He was also the former president of the Southern West Virginia Fire Fighter's Association, the former captain of the Ripley Volunteer Fire Department, the winner of the Jackson County Young Man Award in 1963 and a member of the Ripley Rotary Club and Ripley Baptist Temple. Survivors include his wife of 49 years Dorothy Marie Casto Hunt; sons Bruce A. Hunt and wife Kellie of Millwood and Brad Hunt and wife Mindy of Morgantown; daughter Carol Hyre and husband Steve of Ripley; brother C.C. Hunt and wife Connie of Belpre, Ohio; sister Glenva Babe Anderson and husband Don of Chauncey, Ohio as well as 11 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, his granddaughter Nisa Hunt preceded him in death. Service at Ripley Baptist Temple and burial at Plainview Cemetery, Kenna.
