Information: Phillip Sheridan Hughes, 66, of Ripley, Rt. 1, died March 19 at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, O. Born May 24, 1907, in Flatwoods, Jackson County, he was the son of the late Philip and Margaret Wilson Hughes. He was retired as a driver and mechanic for the Jackson County Board of Education after 32 years' service and was a member of the Jackson County School Bus Drivers Assoc., the W. Va. Non-Teaching Service Personnel Assoc. and the Flatwoods United Methodist Church. He is survived by his widow, Edith Coe Hughes; two daughters, Mrs. Gwendolyn (Howard) Robinson and Mrs. Aloise (Charles) Bosworth, both of Ripley, Rt. 1; one son, Howard D. Hughes of Ripley, Rt.1; three sisters, Mrs. Edith P. Dawson, Miss Esther P. Hughes, and Mrs. Etta H. Day, all of Ravenswood; four brothers, Wayne H. Hughes and Blaine Y. Hughes, both of Ravenswood, Rt. 1, Raymond E. Hughes of Cottageville, and Ralston R. Hughes of San Antonio, Tex.; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Imogene. Funeral services were conducted Friday at the Flatwoods United Methodist Church with the Rev. Armor Sayre and the Rev. John W. Weser officiating. Burial was in the Ravenswood Cemetery. Chambers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
