Information: Pauline Starcher Hughes, 77, of Milton, formerly of Cottageville, departed this life October 27, 1998, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born November 9, 1920 in Jackson County, a daughter of the late William Paul and Golda (Hill) Starcher. She attended Marshall University. She was a member of Cottageville United Methodist Church, where she was pianist for several years. She was a Red Cross volunteer at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, for 30 years and worked with her husband, Raymond, as bookkeeper for Jackson County Lumber Company. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Raymond E. Hughes; daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne H. and James Kiser of Milton, and Ann H. and Charles Wood of Clarksburg; brother, Louis Starcher of Vienna; sisters, Faye Sayre of Vienna, Glenva Lewis of Lexington, KY and Lorene Starcher of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Dr. Joel and Amy Wood of Columbus, OH, Andrew Wood of Greensboro NC and Jamie Kiser of Toledo OH; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Starcher, and two sisters, Josephine Ruth Starcher and Helen Starcher Miller. Funeral services were Friday at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Phillip Scarberry officiating. Burial in Ravenswood Cemetery.
