Information: Funeral services for Mrs. George Hughes, 67 years old, were held at the Hopewell church in Mt. Alto last Friday afternoon with Rev. S. J. Westfall in charge and the body was taken to the cemetery at Letart, Ohio for burial that same afternoon.  She died as a result of an attack of pneumonia which followed a case of hay fever and asthma.  She had been a sufferer from hay fever for many years and it later developed into asthma, members of her family said.  Mary Etta Donohew, daughter of Calvin and Leiddia Donohew, was born December 23, 1868 and died September 9, 1936, aged 67 years, 8 months and 16 days.  She was united in marriage to George W. Hughes on September 20, 1884 and to this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded the mother in death.  She leaves to mourn their loss the husband and four daughters:  Mrs. Gertie Elizabeth Scarberry of Millwood, Mrs. Katie Eleanor Beam of Radnor, Ohio, Mrs. Lena Belle Shirley of Millwood and Mrs. Essie Forest Knotts, also of Millwood; three brothers, Hiram, James and Harris Donohew and five sisters, Margaret Lane of Columbus, Ohio, Clarissa Woodard and Rosa Wheeler of Millwood, Martha Donohew of Letart Falls, Ohio and Mrs. Emma Kay of Millwood.  She had been a member of the Hopewell Baptist church since she was fourteen years old.     [from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
