Information: The subject of this sketch, C. V. Hudson, was born November 12, 1894, was killed by a nitro glycerine explosion in the state of Kentucky April 7, 1919, aged 25 years 4 months and 21 days. Several years ago the Hudson family moved to Pleasant View where Carl grew to manhood.  He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Alcie Rand, May 6, 1918 at Cottageville.  To this union one child was born.  At the time of the accident he was working on the engine of the nitro  (words not readable) about ten minutes before the terrible explosion took place.  All four of the men in the plant were killed.  In all probablility the exact cause of the explosion will never be known.  He leaves his wife, one son, mother and father and three brothers to mourn his untimely death.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. W. Ramsey assisted by Rev. M. H. Branham, April 10, 1919, at the Cottageville M. E. Church and remains were laid to rest in the Hill Cemetery.   (From handwritten obituary in Ada Ruth Sayre Collection)
