Information: Dr. William H. Howell, 79, of Morgantown, died at his home following an extended illness.  Born at Lone Cedar, Jackson County, he was a son of the late Daniel T. and Matie McBride Howell.  A veteran of World War I, he had served with the British Expeditionary Forces as a medical officer with the rank of Captain.  He had attended George Washington University, Ohio University and he received his medical degree from the University of Louisville in 1915.  After returning from the war, he practiced medicine in Spencer and Parkersburg until 1923 when he moved to Morgantown.  There he continued as a practicing physician and surgeon until five years ago when ill health forced him to retire.  Dr. Howell was a member of the American and West Virginia Medical Associations, and an honorary member of the Monongalia County Medical Society.  He was also a member of the VFW Post 1212 of Parkersburg, BPOE No. 411 of Morgantown, Alpha Kappa Medical Fraternity and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.  A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Spencer and the Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templar of Parkersburg.  He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Morgantown and he had also served on the vestry.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Beulah White Howell; two sons, Dr. William H. Howell, Jr., of Daly City , Calif., and Albert D. Howell of Washinton, D.C. and one sister, Mrs. S.C. (Marie) McGuire of Huntington.  Funeral services were held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Morgantown.
