Information:                   Homer D. Howell, 51 year old farmer of Peniel, near Jackson-Roane county line, and an active member of the Little Kanawha Regional Council, was crushed to death by a rolling log at his farm about four o’clock Tuesday afternoon.  Mr. Howell had been hauling logs with a tractor.  He was born in Roane County, the son of the late C. C. Howell and Sarah Roberts Howell.  He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Moriah Lodge No. 38, Spencer Chapter.  Besides his widow, who was the former Halle Thompson, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Perrine of Morgantown and one grandson; one brother, C. W. Howell of Portland, Oregon; three sisters, Mrs. R. A. Fisher of Walton, Mrs. Herbert Reed of Muncie, Indiana and Mrs. E. E. Romins of Spencer.  (Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection)
