Information: Anna Derenberger Howell, 81, of Sherman, died at the Ravenswood Care Center following an extended illness. She was born September 28, 1904, in Jackson County, a daughter of the late William and Alice DeBussey Derenberger. She was a member of the Fannin Chapel United Methodist Church, Sherman, was a former Jackson County school teacher and the postmistress at the Sherman Post Office until her retirement in 1975. She was also owner and operator of Howell's General Store in Sherman for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess, in 1970. She is survived by : sister, Katharine Cooper of Ravenswood; nieces, Carolyn Schakow of Cupertino, Calif., Patricia Harvey and Jane Cobb, both of Sherman; nephews, William Derenberger and James Cooper, both of Charleston, Charles E. Cooper of Parkersburg; sisters-in-law, Grace Derenberger of Ravenswood, Eleanor Howard and Anna Lou Stephens, both of Parkersburg. Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery.
