Information: John L. Barnhart, aged 90, Civil War veteran and well known Wood County resident, died at 12:10 o'clock Saturday morning at his home at Summitt.  Death followed a year's illness.  Mr. Barnhart was born near Ravenswood, Jackson County, May 27, 1844 and at the age of 18 enlisted in Company I, 77th Volumteer Infantry of the Union Army, serving three years.  Mr. Barnhart made his home in Wood County since 1911 and was a member of Andrew Mather Post No. 14, G.A.R., serving five years as post commander.  He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for 60 years.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida May Barnhart; two sons, Frank and Burt, both of Vienna; one sister, Mrs. Hannah Talmer of Ravenswood, and a number of nieces and nephews.
