Information: Mrs. Violet Blanch Hogue, 90, of Ripley, died Sunday at the Ravenswood Rest Home after a long illness. She was born in Jackson County, May 22, 1881, daughter of the late Ferdinand Matheny and Lydia Midkiff Matheny. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley and was a former employee of the Dunbar Glass Co. in Dunbar. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lola Hogue of Parkersburg; six grandchildren, Ernest Hogue of Texas, Denver Hogue of Atlanta, Ga., Violet Gallager of Tucson, Arizona, Carroll Hogue of Tucson, Blondia Pugh of Chester, W. Va. and Barbara Leguiski of Baltimore, Maryland. She was preceded in death by two sons, Russell Hogue and Chester Hogue. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley, with the Rev. Paul Morrison officiating. Burial was in the Lowther Cemetery near Gay.
