Death Notice:

Obituary Date: 1950-09-22

Information: Everett L. Hogsett, 71 year old Huntington lawyer and a native of Ripley, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home there Sunday afternoon.  The death was a shock to the thousands of friends here and elsewhere.  The funeral service is to be held at Huntington early this (Wednesday) afternoon and the body will be brought to the Fairview cemetery near Fairplain for burial.  The Vail undertakers of Ripley are in charge.  Mr. Hogsett as a young man was one of the county's well known school teachers and also taught in other counties of the state and at one time served as county superintendent of schools of McDowell county.  In 1910, he graduated from the College of Law at West Virginia University and for a time practiced at Welch and Logan before going to Huntington where he rose to prominence in the legal fraternity.  He had served as a member of the state legislature from Cabell county and for two terms was the Republican county chairman of that county.  Mr. Hogsett visited at Ripley and other points in the county at regular intervals and was well known here despite the fact he had lived in Huntington for many years.  The widow, the former Allie Greene, survives.
