Information: James Lewis Hinzman, aged farmer of near Ripley, died last Sunday as the result of a stroke which struck him several hours before. He was 84 years old.  The funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon with Rev. J. R. Withrow, of the Ripley Epworth church, in charge and the body was taken to Lewis County for burial Tuesday.  His death was a shock to the family and to his many friends in this section.      James Lewis Hinzman, son of Perry G. and Sarah Swisher Hinzman, was born in Lewis County November 1, 1851, and departed this life February 23, 1936, aged 84 years, 3 months and 22 days.  He was united in marriage to Alice B. Flint on January 20, 1880, and to this union was born two children:  Mrs. H. B. Batten, of Ripley, and one son who died in infancy.  Mrs. Alice B. Hinzman died February 3, 1908.      He was united in marriage to Margaret C. Morrison on January 17, 1910.  He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. H. B. Batten; one grandson, Brooks Batten and one great-granddaughter, Arleen Batten.  The surviving brothers and sisters are J. W. Hinzman, of Buckhannon, A. G. Hinzman, of Gandeeville, Mrs. Molly Lawson, of Lumberport, Mrs. Elizabeth Morrison, Mrs. Florence McKinney and Miss Kate Hinzman, all of Weston.  One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.  He leaves a host of friends in both Jackson and Lewis counties.  He joined the M. E. church of Kings Chapel under the pastorate of Rev. H. K. Riffe and since then has led a loyal christian life.  [Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
