Information: DEATH CLAIMS CIRCUIT CLERK - Jackson County Circuit Clerk, T. K. Barnette, 53, died early Sunday morning, March 29, 1987, at his Trace Fork residence following an extended illness..  He had returned to his home Friday from Jackson General Hospital where he had been a patient for several days and had spent a restful day Saturday with his family.  Barnette, known affectionately as ""Farmer"" to his family and friends, in addition to being a popular public official, was a farmer and businessman.  He was appointed Jackson County Circuit Clerk in 1973 and held that office by election till his death.  In the 1986 general election he was re-elected by winning every precinct in the county.  Prior to being named to public office, he was employed by Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Company for 15 years.  Earlier, he was associated with American Viscose and North American Aviation in Columbus, Ohio.  He was owner of Sandyville Builders Supply.  Barnette was a strong supporter of the Jackson County Junior Fair and was a member of the first Board of Directors of the fair.  The public official also was a member of the first Board of Directors of the West Virginia Cattlemen's Association, serving as executive secretary and treasurer.  He was past president and past vice president of the Jackson County Hereford Breeders Association.  He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, United Steel Workers of America and Jackson County Farmers.  Barnette was born at Rockcastle, the son of Nell Koontz Barnette, who survives, and Hoyt ""Tom"" Barnette, deceased.  He was a 1951 graduate of Gilmore High School.  He is also survived by his wife, Norma Lea Barnette, Sandyville; three daughters, Vickie Lynn Curtiss, Ripley, Gwen Gaye McDougal and Cathy Faye Anthony, both of Sandyville; three sisters, Gloria Harris, Charleston, Hope Tomlin, Mississippi, Becky Jo Roush, St. Albans; ten grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Allen Barnette.  The Rev. Lee F. Benford II and Circuit Judge George Scott officiated at the funeral services held at Parsons Funeral Home, Tuesday.  Interment was at Independence Cemetery, Sandyville.
