Information: Ruth Emagene Thornton Hill, 74, of Charleston, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at her home following an extended illness. She was born April 20, 1928, at Rockcastle, a daughter of the late Jesse O. and Mary Gillespie Thornton. She was employed by Charleston Memorial Hospital as a central service technician and was a member of the South Park Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Ed Hill; a son, Edison Blaine Hill of Dunbar; four daughters, Rychie R. Madden of Hinesville GA, Vickie G. Marshall of Hurricane, Christine E. Mason of Kenna and Constance I. O'Dell of Sissonville; sister, Florence Casto of Liberty; grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Brownlee, Kayla Noel Madden, Jason Marshall and Jennifer McGuire; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Rose Marshall and Emylie Jean Marshall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry, Woodrow, Hubert, Leo, and Alfred Thornton; and three sisters, Birdie Livingston, Irene Stone and Lottie Campbell. Funeral services were held at the Grasslick Baptist Church, Pleasant Valley Road, Kenna, with Pastor Charles Bolen and Pasto Kermit Monk officiating. Burial in the Grasslick Cemetery.
