Information: MRS. HILL DIES AT FAIRPLAIN - Mrs. Alwida C. Hill, 84, of Given, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dollie Winter at Fairplain, after a long illness. She was the widow of Ira Ward Hill, widely known merchant of Given in his lifetime. She was a member of the EUB church at Given and one of the most highly respected residents of the county. Surviving are two sons, Estel of Sandyville and Ira of Winfield; one other daughter, Mrs. Erva Wolfe, of Given; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held at the Grasslick Baptist church at Kenna on Sunday with the Rev. Earl Gumm officiating and the burial with the Vail undertakers in charge was in the Pleasant Valley cemetery. Obituary 6/14/1963 - Alwilda Harrison Hill, daughter of Bushrod and Louisa Ranson Harrison, was born at Given, West Virginia on February 2, 1878, and departed this life May 17, 1963. She was united in marriage to Ira Ward Hill on February 2, 1898. Her husband died September 22, 1913. One daughter, Dorcas Sayre, preceded her in death on April 29, 1962. She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Erva Wolfe of Given, Mrs. Dolly Winter of Fairplain, Estel Hill of Sandyville and Ira Hill of Winfield. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Aunt Alwilda was a good mother, a fine neighbor, and a Christian. Her passing will be missed by all who knew her. Through all of her trials and successes she lived close to her Christian beliefs and had a smile and good word for everyone. She was a member of the Given EUB Church.
