Information: Funeral services were held Sunday at the Mt. Olivet EUB Church near Rockcastle for McKinley Barnette, 70, of Evans who died Saturday in Jackson General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Jackson County, he was a son of the late William and Emily Worrel Barnette.  A life-long resident of the county, he was a retired school teacher, serving 13 terms in Mason County Schools.  He had also been engaged in farming and was a member of the Mt. Olivet EUB Church.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lottie Sayre Barnette of Leon; two sons, McKinley Grant Barnette of Pt. Pleasant and James Henry Barnette of Evans; and four grandchildren.  The Rev. Charles Higginbotham officiated at the service with burial in Mount Olive Cemetery.  Parsons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
