Information: RIPLEY - The Rev. Homer Thomas Hicks, 87, of Ripley, died April 10, 1999, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley. He was a retired minister, formerly with the Evangelical United Brethren Church, a member of the West Virginia United Methodist Conference, served in many congregations, including Huntington, Red House, Union, Point Pleasant, Shinnston, Ripley, St. Albans, Vienna and Dunbar. He also served the Peniel-Mount Zion Circuit and was associate pastor to Calvary United Methodist Church. Surviving: wife, Velma Cottrill Swisher Hicks; sons, Tom of Gay, Ronald of San Antonio, Sam of Ravenswood, Richard of Lake Worth, Fla., Carder of New York; daughters, Mitzi Oldaker of New Haven, Sandra Mitchell of Barberton, Ohio, Sidney Jones of Pinch, Donna Yencha of Parkersburg; stepsons, Raymond Swisher of Ripley, Donald Swisher of Buckhannon, Kenny Swisher of New Haven; 28 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley, with the Rev. Charles Hicks and the Rev. Hubert Groves officiating. Burial will be in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to service at the church. Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Calvary United Methodist Church Building Fund, 205 Court St..
