Information: Hickman, William Howard A heart attack brought sudden death Saturday morning to William Howard Hickman, 37, of Given, as he walked from the cemetery there, where he had been doing some work around the family graves, to his home only a short distance away. The funeral service for the World War II veteran was held from the Given church Monday morning with the Rev. Rankin Roach officiating and the burial with full military honors was in the Given cemetery. Mr. Hickman was born at Given on Sept. 23, 1911, a son of William Thomas Hickman and Rebecca Parsons Hickman. He served in World War II and was honorably discharged. On July 19, 1945, he married Mildred Boswell, who with a son, Harold Wayne, and a step-daughter, Beverly Jaye Barnett, survive. Other survivors include two brothers, Clair and Cleo Hickman, both of Tyler Mountain, and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hunter, Mrs. Gladys Hanning and Mrs. Dale Bush, all of Dunbar, and Mrs. Bessie French of Cutler, Ohio. (Friday, 5 Aug 1949) Hickman, William Howard William Howard Hickman, a son of the late William Thomas Hickman and Rebecca Helen Parsons Hickman, was born September 23, 1911 and departed this life July 30, 1949, age 37 years, 10 months and 7 days. On July 19, 1945 he was unified in marriage to Mildred Alberta Boswell, who survives with a son, Gerald Wayne Hickman and a step-daughter, Beverly Joyce Barnett. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hunter of Dunbar, Mrs. Bessie French of Cutler, Ohio, Mrs. Gladys Hanning of Sebring, Ohio, and Mrs. Dale Bush of Dunbar; two brothers, Cleo Hickman and Clair Hickman, of Tyler Mountain; two aunts, Mrs. Minnie Rhodes of Given and Mrs. Ella Wolfe of Dunbar. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two brothers, Edgar and Roy Hickman. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II, having been honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Funeral services were conducted Aug 1 at the Parchment Chapel Church with the Rev.
