  <p>Information:                 Mrs. Melissa Jane Hickel, 75, widow of the late O. D. Hichel, died at her home in Ripley last Friday evening after being in declining health for some time.  The funeral service was held at the Fairview Church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Rankin Roach officiating and the burial was in the church cemetery.  Mrs. Hickel was born at Given on October 1, 1873, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Starcher, early residents of that section of the county.  On July 14, 1895, she married O. D. Hickel, who preceded her in death.  She had resided in the Given community all her life until a few months ago when she came to Ripley to live.  Survivors include a son, Brady Hickel of Ripley, at whose home she died; a grandson, Brady Hickel Jr. of Given; a great-grandchild, Juanita Mae Hickel of Given; two brothers, J. C. and S. R. Starcher, both of Given, and two sisters, Mrs. Ross Lewis of Nitro and Mrs. Maggie Starcher of Given.  (Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection)</p>
