Information: EVANS - Guy Landon Hersman, 78, of Evans WV departed this life November 27, 2003 at his hunting camp on Upper Dry Fork in Randolph County, following a sudden illness.  He was born December 16, 1924, in Fairmont WV, a son of the late Guy Aubrey and Meriam (Thomas) Hersman.  He was a 1946 graduate of Ripley High School, and was a former oil field worker and iron worker.  He was a WWII Navy veteran, having served on the U.S.S. West Virginia.  He was a retired maintenance foreman from Kaiser Aluminum and Century Aluminum.  He was a member of VFW Post #5501, Ripley, the Ripley Moose, Ripley Lodge #16 AF&AM, Scottis Rite, Parkersburg, and the Nemis Temple Shrine, Parkersburg.  In recent years he became known for his elaborate Christmas decorations.  Folks would drive for miles to enjoy the lights above and around his home and lakes.      Survivors include his wife. Carolyn Sue (Pettit) Hersman; sons, Guy Robert Hersman of Evans, Randy Hersman of Myrtle Beach, SC and Joseph Edward Corey II of Ripley; daughter, Shannon Gayle Hersman of Evans; brother, Willy ""Bill"" Hersman of Evans; sisters, Rosemary Archer of Evans, Ellen Whiting of Ripley, Nancy Blake of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, William Ray Hersman, Benjamin Hersman, Sally Beth Keefer, Emma Sue Corey and Chloe Elizabeth Corey.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Gale, and a sister, Joann Lott.  Services were held Sunday, November 30, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans WV.  Deacon Timothy Holmes officiated at the service.  A committal service with full military honors provided by Jackson County veterans groups will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2003, at the Otterbein Cemetery, Evans.
