Information: Abijah Turner Herdman, son of Peter and Nancy Flowers Herdman, was born May 11, 1861 and departed this life August 28, 1948, age 87 years, three months and 17 days.  He was united in marriage to Louise Roseberry in 1883 and to this union nine children were born.  His wife preceded him in death five years ago.  Also three children preceded him in death, two while in infancy and Bill three years later.  The following children survive:  Mrs. Murvin Norris  of Parkersburg, Mrs. Early Noble and Clinton Herdman of Fairmont, Wallis Herdman of Evans and Alta and Earl, at home.  He also leaves to mourn their loss, six children, 31 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and  a host of relatives and friends.  Uncle Bige was a good neighbor and friend and always willing to lend a helping hand.  With his passsing, life's chapter of a family of ten children is closed.  Funeral services were conducted at the Creston E.U.B. Church, August 30 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. I. J. McCollum officiating and Vail Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Interment was made in the Creston cemetery.
