Information: Melvina J. Hazen, 59, of Alliance, Ohio, died Saturday in Timken Mercy Hospital, Canton, Ohio, after an extended illness. She was the mother of Mrs. Dallas (Carolyn) Wallen of Ripley. She was born in Caldwell, O., a daughter of the late Thomas and Goldie Whited Cox. She had lived most of her life in Alliance. She was a school bus driver with over 27 years of experience. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Alliance, O.; Ohio Association of Public School Employees and the Milk Market, Inc. Other survivors include husband, Paul E. Hazen; three additional daughters, Mrs. Larry (Julie) Johnson of Alliance, Susan Hazen and Mrs. Fred (Joan) Cockrill, all of Alliance; three sisters, Mary Rothe, Arkansas, Martha Drake, Alliance, Mrs. Earl (Sally) Crowel, Salem, O., four brothers; James Cox of Illinois, Cleo Cox of Alexander, O., Elmer Cox of Flint, Mich., and Kenneth Cox of Tulsa, Okla.; and 8 grandchildren. A service was to be held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the Cassady & Turkle Funeral Home in Alliance, with the Rev. C. Michael Gibson officiating. Burial was to follow in Marlboro Cemetery near Alliance. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
