Information: EVANS - Uriah Elihu Hatcher, 86, of Evans, departed this life Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at his home following an extended illness.  He was born December 21, 1920 at Kenna, a son of the late Joseph Calvin and Ester Ercy Winter Hatcher.  He was a disabled Army veteran of World War II.  He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways as a truck driver.  He was also a former pipe layer for the gas and oil industry.  He was a farmer and enjoyed hunting.  He was a Methodist by faith.  Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Marie J. Kinzel Hatcher; step-daughter, Delphia King of Evans; brothers, Joseph Hatcher of Parkersburg, Oval Hatcher of Vienna, and Ralph Hatcher of Barberton OH; and sister, Freda Halstead of Ripley.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Boyd and Okey Hatcher and four infant sisters.  Graveside services were held Friday, February 23, 2007, at Jackson Chapel Cemetery, Mt. Alto, with Pastor Melvin ""Jack"" Grimes officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar WV 25064.  Casto Funeral Home, Evans, was in charge of the arrangements.  Online condolences for the Hatcher family may be sent to castofuneralhome@citynet.net.
