Information: Harley Harding Hartley, 84, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Mason County, died on July 29, 2005, at his home in Florida. He was a founder of Hartley Midstream Fueling, later Hartley Marine Corporation. He was also president of Hartley, Hartley and Hartley Inc., Point Distributing Company and Hartley Sales Company. He served on the board of directors of Citizens National Bank from 1955 to 1985, at which time he became an honorary director. He was a past member of Point Pleasant Rotary Club, serving as president from 1953 to 1954 and was a member and former director of the Mason County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Point Pleasant City Council from 1950 to 1951. He served on the Floodwall Commission from 1976 to 1983 and the Propeller Club of Huntington. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Born on April 11, 1921, in Cottageville, he was the son of the late Vitus Bering and Minnie May Newberry Hartley Sr. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Vitus Hartley, Jr.; and two sisters, Grace Adeline Hartley Casto and Virginia Marie Hartley Click. He is survived by his wife, Fern Newell Hartley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sonja and William Capehart of Bradenton, Fla. and Catherine and Thomas Staats of Point Pleasant; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Art Ellis and Murlin Hartley Sr. and Ethel Hartley, all of Point Pleasant; five grandchildren, Lisa Dawn Capehart, Staci Nicole Capehart, Cathy Jo Capehart Hood, Thomas Christopher Staats and Kristen Ashley Staats; six great-grandchildren, Nadia Fern Capehart Barton, Dillon Harley Hulse, Melanie Catherine Hood, Kristopher Robin Hood, Justin Thomas Staats and Ashley Nicole Staats; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard DeQuasie officiating. Burial will follw in Creston Cemetery, Leon. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home.
