Information: Funeral services for Charles Lee Harris, 53 year old World War veteran, were held at the Antioch church Sunday afternoon and burial was in the church cemetery.  Rev. Roy Davis had charge of the service and Ralph Bush, Mt. Alto mortician, had charge of arrangements for the funeral and burial.  Mr. Harris died in the Veterans Hospital at Huntington on Saturday morning, a nurse finding him......when she went to his room making her early morning rounds to visit the patients.  He had been a patient in the hospital for some time and was thought to be improving but physicians were of the opinion that he had suffered a fatal heart attack during his sleep.  He enlisted in the World War on 4 March 1918 and served until June 1919 when he was mustered out of the service.  During much of the time he was attached to the Base Hospital on Long Island, New York.  He leaves to mourn their loss his mother and five sisters, namely:  Minnie Harris and Iva Spaulding, at home; May Frye, of Cottageville; Florence Ecker of Flat Rock; Mattie McClure of Leon; Andrew McClure and six other nieces and three nephews (?)  Those preceding him in death are his father and one sister, Lizzie.  [Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
