Obituary Date: 1915-03-26
Information: [Hinton Dailey News, March 20, 1915] Mrs. Daisy Harrington, wife of W. R. Harrington, died at 1 o'clock this morning of that dreaded disease, spinal meningitis, at the home of Engineer and Mrs. M. T. Smith of Ballenger Street, where she had been making her home since her marriage. Mrs. Harrington had been sick two weeks and from the first of her illness her relatives and friends had little hopes of her recovery, as she had rapidly been getting worse all the time until she died at the hour mentioned. She was formerly Miss Daisy Prickett, of Ripley, Jackson county, where she lived almost all her life. She was 33 years of age and three years ago she married W. R. Harrington of this city. Mrs. Harrington was well known in this city where she has many friends. She taught three terms in the public schools here, two before she was married, and she was teaching in the Greenbrier school when she was taken ill. She was a good christian woman, having united with the Methodist church in Ripley when she was very young. Mrs. Harrington leaves to mourn her loss, her mother, Mrs. Charles Foster Prickett of Ripley, three brothers, John of Ripley, Charles of Akron, Ohio, Isaiah of Huntington, W. Va., two sisters, Miss Ada Prickett of Ripley and Mrs. J. A. Wooddell of Pennsboro, besides other relatives and a host of friends who will be grieved to learn of her sad death. The remains will be taken to Ripley, Jackson county, Sunday morning on No. 3, where the interment will take place on Tuesday. This paper extends sympathy to the bereaved family. (Following services conducted by Rev. J. L. West, her pastor, at the home, the remains were laid to rest in a flower strewn grave on Pine Hill). (McIntyre)
