Information: Charles Harpold, one of the pioneer residents of Jackson County, and a man well known throughout the state, died on Tuesday morning at five o'clock at the family home at Ravenswood.  The deceased was 84 years of age and was born near Ripley, moving to Ravenswood 63 years ago.  He took a prominent part in civic, fraternal and religious matters in his community.  He was a member of the Baptist Chrch and with others erected the Baptist church at Ravenswood.  The deceased served as president of the county court and also Mayor for several terms.  He is survived by his wife and the following sons and daughters:  Mrs. W. L. Smith, Ravenswood, Edward, W. A., Frank and Earl Harpold, all of Ravenswood.  He was the last of the Solomon Harpold family.  Solomon Harpold is known as one of the pioneer families of Jackson County.  (from the Betty Kessel McIntyre collection)
