Information: Dr. Clyde A. Harper, 92, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Clendenin, died Wednesday in a Lakeland hospital after a long illness. He was born in Roane County and was a 1915 graduate of the Chicago School of Medicine and Surgery, now a part of Loyola University. After graduation, he returned to Roane County, setting up practice in Amma and later in Gandeeville. He established an office in Clendenin about 1925 where he practiced for more than 50 years. He and his brother, the late Dr. O. M. Harper, had offices in the Farmers & Citizens State Bank in Clendenin. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the West Virginia Medical Association and the Shriners and was a 50-year Mason. Surviving: wife, Stella Smith Harper; daughters, Mrs. Maxine O'Dell and Mrs. Uldena Ellis, both of Charleston, Mrs. Obyra Quick of Lakeland, Fla., Mrs. Mary Jane Bond of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Russell of Gandeeville, Tom of Harmony; sisters, Mrs. Freda Mays of Ravenswood, Mrs. Ava Poling of Kentuck, Mrs. Hazel Bohn of Willard, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Service was Monday in Harper Memorial Church, Harmony, with Dr. David L. Fish, officiating. Masonic graveside service was in the church cemetery.
