Information: William D. ""Bill"" Hannum, Sr., 82, of Mount Alto WV, passed away May 18, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born September 19, 1929, in Mount Alto, a son of the late Charles E. and Harriet Rona (McDermott) Hannum. His first wife, and mother of his seven children, Louise Smith Hannum, his second wife, Zelda Knapp Hannum, brother, Charles Hannum, Jr., and sisters, Ada Lee Click, Gaye Donohew, and Mildred Roby, also preceded him in death. He was a lifelong resident of Mount Alto, where he and his late wife, Louise, founded and operated the former Will'O' Wegee's Restaurant. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum, but was always a farmer, an occupation he dearly loved. He was an active member of the Church of Christ and assisted with the establishment of churches in Millwood, Mount Alto, and West Ripley, where he had attended for the past 17 years. Surviving are his wife, Helen Taylor Hannum; children and their spouses, Charles Lee and Shayne Hannum of Beijing, China, Janet Louise and Larry Queen of Scottsdale AZ, Pamela Sue and Gale Francis of Marietta OH, William Dale Hannum, Jr. and Jane of Pt. Pleasant, Lewis Mark and Pam Hannum of Mount Alto, Roy Edwin Hannum of Millwood, and Tammy Michelle and David Bigley of Murraysville; stepsons and their wives, Mark and Jennifer Taylor of Ravenswood, and Matt Taylor and Gina of Ripley; sister, Elsie Mae Durst of Niles OH; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services were 11 am Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans. Minister Steven Turner and Minister Denver Haught officiated. Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery, Mount Alto.
