Information: Starling Hamon, 88, of Ripley, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg. He was born October 20, 1914 in Kentuck, a son of the late Robert Lee and Lessie Ferrell Hamon. He was a carpenter and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was always a farmer at heart. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Knotts Hamon of Ripley; daughtersgr, Elizabeth (Lorrie) Vannoy of Given, Trulah Castaneda of Tallahassee, FL, Sidnea Fankhouser of Long Beach, Miss. and Shelley Hamon of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Anna and Aime Vannoy of Given, Mark and Chris Castaneda, Todd and Scott Fankhouser, Chad Hamon, Dan Diehl and Tiffany Diehl; brother Marvin Hamon of Fredericktown OH and sister, Garnet Landfried of Ripley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shielah Siders; daughter, Rita Diehl; and a granddaughter, Shielah Suzzane. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at the Fairview United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jack Miller and John Gunther officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alpine Theatre Restoration Project, 113 S. Church St., Ripley WV 25271. Arrangements by Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home.
