Information: JAMES HAMILTON DEAED-REMAINS OF FORMER WELL-KNOWN CITIZEN BROUGHT HERE FOR INTERMENT James Hamilton, a Union soldier in the Civil War, died at his home, on Main Street, in this city, yesterday morning at 2 o'clock. Mr. Hamilton was a member of Troop E of the Seventh West Virginia Cavalry during the Civl War. He was also a member of Blundon Post in this city. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Melissa Hamilton; two sons, Wirt Hamilton, who is sheriff of Mercer county, and John Hamilton, member of the Charleston fire department; three daughters, Mrs. Rosa Cook and Mrs. Eura Withrow, of Huntington, and Miss Ersa Hamilton, of this city. The funeral services will be held from the residence this morning at 10 o'clock and the remains will be shipped on the noon train for Ripley for Burial (Tuesday's Charleston Gazette) The remains arrived here Wednesday evening accompanied by Mrs. J. M. Hamilton, the wife; Mr. and Mrs.. W. A. Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hamilton and son Earl, Miss Ersa Hamilton of Charleston; Mrs. J. W. Cook, Miss Eva Cook, Mrs. R. A. Withrow of Huntington; Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Hamilton of Princeton, and on Thursday afternoon were taken to Oak Hill and interred in the Riley cemetery, the services at the grave being conducted by Carl Shatto Post G. A. R. of this place. Messrs. Thomas Swinburn and W. P. Hardway, members of the Blundon Post G. A. R. of Charleston, of which deceased was a member, also accompanied the remains here.
