Information: RIPLEY - Bonita ""Bunk"" Halstead, 86, of Ripley, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Eldercare of Ripley following a long illness.  She was born July 13, 1923, in Boone County, a daughter of the late Chris and Dolly Harless.  She retired as a housekeeper from Cedar Lakes Conference Center, where she was employed for many years.  ""Bunk"" was a long-time member of the Millcreek Baptist Church and considered her church family as her own family.  She was active in the American Baptist Women's Mission and was intensely interested in church programs for the children and young people.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Harless of Hernshaw and Hugh Harless of Washington state.  Surviving are nieces, Debby Cline of Ohio and Sandy Hamrick of Hernshaw and nephews, Charles Harless of Sissonville, Bobby Harless of Charleston, Randy Harless of Ripley and Jerry Harless of Craigsville.  A memorial service will be Sunday, December 13, at 4 pm at the Millcreek Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Keen officiating.  A time of fellowship will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.  It was ""Bunk's"" wish that her body be donated to medical science through the WV Human Gift Registry and that wish was honored.  It was also her wish that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the Millcreek Baptist Church Children's and Youth Program.  Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, is assisting the Halstead family.
