Information: D. C. GREENE, RETIRED FARMER, DIED FRIDAY D. C. Greene, 95-year-old retired farmer and livestockman, of Ripley, died in a Charleston hospital Friday afternoon. He was rushed to the hospital in a Vail ambulance Friday morning, but was dead within a few hours. Mr. Greene spent his entire life in Jackson County and during his lifetime was actively engaged in numerous business interests. He operated the Grasslick Flouring Mill at Kenna early in the century and later was associated with his brother, the late P. C. Greene, in the establishment of the Greene Hereford farm at Kenna which is still in existence. Later he sold his interest in the Milling Company and the Hereford farm and moved to Ripley where he was associated with A. S. McCoy in the hardware business which was known as McCoy & Greene. After a few years he sold his interest in that business and bought an Ohio riverfront farm near Millwood and re-entered the Hereford cattle breeding business there and his farm became widely known for its fine quality of Herefords. Still later he sold his farm and herd and moved back to Ripley where he continued to live until the time of his death. Despite his advanced years he remained active almost to the end and took long walks about town almost every day.
