Information: KENNA - Carroll ""Pete"" Greene, 93, died November 7, 1999, in Jackson General Hospital after a long illness. He was born March 14, 1906, in Kenna, a son of Perry and Mattie B. Crow Greene. He had a very full life with many accomplishments. He was a farmer, attended Berea Academy, graduated from Salem College, was a former teacher and principal in Jackson County, organized Western Soil Conservation District, Executive Secretary of West Virginia State Soil Conservation District, State Soil Conservation Committee, founding member of Board of Directors of Jackson General Hospital, founder and director of Southern Jackson County Public Service District, 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #16. member of Knights Templar of Ravenswood, member Nemesis Temple, Parkersburg, former Sergeant of Arms of WV Senate, organized Millcreek Watershead Project, member of WV Agricultural Hall of Fame, founder and board member of Western Soil Conservation District, charter member of Kenna Grange #516 and was honored as State Conservation Farm of the Year. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, in June of 1999. He is survived by his son, Ben Greene of Sissonville and his daughter, Ann Parsons of Elkview, three grandchildren and one great-grandchildren. The service will be November 10, 1999, at 11:00 a.m. at Vail Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Stacy Grossup officiating. Burial will follow at Fairplain Cemetery.
