Information: Funeral services for John Gorrell were held at the Vail Funeral Home in Ripley and the burial was in the Independence Cemetery at Sandyville.  Mr. Gorrell, a lifelong resident of the county, died at his home at Ravenswood after a short illness.  He was born at Sandyville on March 22, 1884, a son of Stephen and Jane Murphy Gorrell.  He was a member of the Methodist Church.  Survivors include his wife, Maude Gorrell; a son, John of Fairview, W.Va.; a brother, Chancey of Ravenswood; a sister, Mrs. Clara Willett of New Springfield, Ohio; 3 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
