Information: L. Blanche Gorrell, 92, 504 Wood St., Ravenswood, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 1989, at the Ravenswood Village Health Center following an extended illness.  She was born in Murraysville, a daughter of the late William Elijah and Mary Brannon Mills.  She taught school in Jackson and Wood counties for many years, had owned a grocery store and was a 35-year member of the Rebekah Lodge.  She also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 118, the North United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School classes, the United Methodist Women.  She had been a midwife in Jackson County for many years and retired from Click's Department Store at the age of 74. She was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Persons and was active in the senior citizens programs in Jackson County.  She is survived by three daughters, Maralee Cogar of Milton, Phyllis Gentry and Ruth Rhodes, both of Ravenswood; a son, William H. Gorrell, Jr. of Parkersburg; three brothers, Charles W. Mills of Newell, William Arthur Mills and Lowell Weldon Mills, both of Parkersburg; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William; three brothers and two sisters.  Funeral services were held Sunday at North United Methodist Church, with the Rev. C. Donald Pringle officiating.  Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery.  Straight-Tucker Funeral Home was in charge.
