Information: RAVENSWOOD - Betty Muriel Carmichael Gorrell, 88, of Ravenswood, passed away Thursday at Jackson General Hospital.  She was born September 19, 1923 at Sandyville, a daughter of the late Fred and Beulah Mayhall Carmichael.  She was a former employee of Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation, retiring with 25 years of service.  She was also a former employee of Boso and Ritchie Construction Company and Farmers Building and Loan of Ravenswood.  Before her marriage, she was employed by the C&P Telephone Company of West Virginia at Charleston.  She was employed during World War II at U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters in Washington DC as a secretary.  She was a Charleston School of Commerce, Ravenswood High School and North American School of Accounting graduate.      She is survived by two sisters, Frankie Shockey of Atlanta GA, and Elizabeth Curry of Ripley WV, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Fred and Beulah Carmichael of Silverton, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles E. Gorrell; and two brothers, Robert M. Carmichael of Dayton OH and William F. ""Bill"" Carmichael of Ripley WV.  Funeral services are set for Monday, October 31, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Ravenswood Cemetery.  Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Monday, October 31, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the time of the service.
