Information: Virginia Laura Gorby, 82, of Ravenswood, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1987, at her residence after suffering a heart attack.  She was born in Belington, a daughter of the late Addison A. and Clara Hoyt Smith.  She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Ravenswood and the Jackson County Historical Society.  She retired from Farmers Federal Savings and Loan after 25 years.  She is survived by one son, Hoyt Wheeler of Columbia, S. C.; one daughter-in-law, Janice Wheeler of Columbia, S. C.; two grandsons, Jeffrey Smith and Johnathon Phillip Wheeler, both of Columbia, S. C.  She was preceded in death by one grandson.  Service was Monday at the Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Roy C. Myers officiating.  Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery.  Straight-Tucker Funeral Home, Ravenswood, was in charge of arrangements.
