Information: Rites were conducted at the South Parkersburg United Methodist Church for Homer R. Godbey of 4215 18th Ave., who died following an apparent heart attack. Burial was in Arlington Memorial Gardens. Born at Gay, Jackson County, he was a son of the late Alfred and Rosette Godbey. A retired employee of the American Viscose Corp., he was a member of Textile Workers Union of America, Local No. 9, where he had served as vice president and president, and chairman of the Committee on Political Education, and in 1958, he served as vice president of the West Virginia Labor Federation. He was active in the Democratic Party. Mr. Godbey was a member of the South Parkersburg United Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Lockhart Godbey; two sons, Donald A. Godbey of Parkersburg, and Eugene Godbey of Cincinnati, O.; seven greandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-children, Harold, Gerald, Roy and Larry Lockhart, all of Parkersburg, and Mrs. Jean Ayers of Rockport; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie Staats, who died in 1967.
