Information: Funeral services were held in Parkersburg for Donald A. Godbey, 43, who died at St. Joseph's Hospital following a brief illness.  Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.  Born at Gay, he was a son of the late Homer R. and Bessie Virginia Staats Godbey, and was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church.  President of the Wood County Sports Association, he was affiliated with the Mt. Olivet Lodge No. 3 A.F. and A.M. and was a veteran of World War II.  Prior to his death, Godbey was employed by the State Department of Labor as wage inspector, having retired before from Johns-Manville.  Survivors include his wife, Elaine Keller Godbey; three sons, Jack, Jerry and Joe, all at home; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Donna Jean) Boston, Parkersburg; one foster son, Roger Parker, Columbus, Ohio; and one foster daughter, Mrs. Joyce Chapman, Parkersburg; three grandchildren and two nieces.
