Information: Mrs. Martha Gilpin, widow of Alfred Gilpin, many years deceased died at her home near Cottageville from the effects of a paralytic stroke which occurred several weeks ago, age 80 years, 10 months and 4 days.  Mrs. Gilpin was a lifelong and highly respected resident of this community and her demise is a great loss to her family and friends.  She is survived by two sons and four daughters; Alonzo and Lorenzo Gilpin, Mrs. Thomas E. Greathouse, Mrs. D. A. Wheeler, Mrs. James Crawford and Mrs. Harry Mahan, all living in that community.  The funeral services were conducted at the home on Wednesday at 10 o'clock by her pastor, Rev. C. H. Cox of the United Brethern Church, after which the remains were interred in the Cedar Grove Cemetery on the home place.   (From handwritten copy-collection of Ada Ruth Sayre)
