Information: Mrs. Melva L. Gibson, 81, of Charleston, died in St. Francis Hospital after a short illness.  She was the mother of Helen Casto Riggs of Ripley.  She was the retired self-employed owner of Elkview Trading Post, Big Chimney, for 25 years.  She was a member of United Gospel Mission, and a lifelong resident of Charleston.  Also surviving; daughters, Mrs. Mary Neeley Walden and Mrs. Dorothy Gibson Palmer, both of Charleston, Mrs. Carol Marr of Cocoa, Fla.,: sister, Mrs Stella M. Jones of Spencer; three grandchildren.  Burial was in Drawdy Cemetery, Walton.
