Information: eDEATH CLAIMS MOTHER OF NEWS EDITOR - Margaret Carney Gibson, 67, of Melbourne, FL. formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, April 2, 1988, at the Holmes Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. She was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Poca, Putnam County, daughter of the late Silas Edgar and Nanna Melton Carney. She was a housewife, a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dunbar, and a former Republican Executive Committeewoman. Survivors: son JACKSON HERALD news editor, H. E. ""Hank"" Gibson Jr. of Ripley; daughters, Mrs. Rejohna Carter of Melbourne, FL, Mrs. Eugenia Jill Canter of Ripley; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Eugene Gibson. Services will be 1:00 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Parsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Orland Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Carney Family Cemetery in Putnam County. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the Ripley Fire Dept.
