Information: RAVENSWOOD - Clyde Gerlach, Jr. of Ravenswood, passed away December 3, 2004, at CAMC Memorial Division, as a result of complications of cancer. He was born in Letart, WV, on February 15, 1927, to the late Clyde and Vella Gerlach and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Sidney Gerlach, Ray Gerlach and John Gerlach and two sisters, Velma Burris and Elsie Pratt. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geraldine Gerlach; three daughters, Jerri (Don) Stephens of Ravenswood, Debra (Tim) Drake of Bridgeport WV and Pamela Gerlach of Clarksburg WV. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chris (Kerri) Drake of Shinnston WV, David W. Pitts, Jr. of Clarksburg, and Jed Stephens of Ravenswood; step grandchildren, Shannon (Betsy) Stephens of Kenna and Seth (Charlotte) Stephens of Ravenswood; three great grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Wollenhaput of Laport TX; four brothers, Sherman Gerlach of New Haven, Gerald Gerlach of Akron OH, Robert Gerlach of Letart WV and Harold Gerlach of Dunbar; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was a World War II veteran and retired from Foote Mineral Company, New Haven, WV. He belonged to Steelworkers Local 5171 and was a farmer and an avid outdoorsman. A service was held Monday, December 6, 2004, at Roush Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Ravenswood Cemetery with military rites provided by Ravenswood VFW Post 6669. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
