Information: Another of Jackson Countys World War II heroes will come home next Sunday for his final sleep in the soil which was home during the brief year he spent among the living. S/Sgt. Harold E. Gandee, who at the age of 23 was killed in action over Germany while serving with the 562nd Bomb Squadron of the 338th Bomb Group of the 8th US Army Air Force on April 11, 1944. The service will be held Sunday afternoon at the Stone Lick Methodist Church near Kenna with the Rev. Hobson D. Fisher in charge and burial will be in the Gandee cemetery. S/Sgt Gandee was born at Charleston on March 3, 1921. He was a graduate of Ripley High School and was employed by Libby-Owens Glass at the time he entered the service. Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Gandee; one brother, Howard L. Gandee of Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Delaney of Charleston and Mrs. Hilda Rankin of Kenna; his paternal grandfather, C. M. Gandee, and two nieces and one nephew.
